Weather is supposed to be in the 50's this weekend so there's no excuse not to get out there with us on Sunday - the season is sneaking up on us quickly!  Training is back at our regular time this week - 1PM at the Wizards' Swope Park facility, 63rd and Lewis.

Just so you know, here are the big upcoming dates:

3/20 - Pre-season match vs. Twin Cities
3/28 - KCGAC intra-club 7's Tourney
4/14 - Scrimmage with Haskell @ Haskell.

3/13 - Brookside Parade
3/17 - Kansas City Parade

To play in any of these events, your 2010 registration/medical waiver must be filled out - these are available at the club website - www.kcgac.org

So you can see that by the time we meet on Sunday for training we will be less than two weeks away from our first match - time to get our skills sharp again!

March is going to be the only time this year that we will really concentrate on the basics (lifts, soloing, passes, etc.).  Most of us have been playing at least a year and we at least know what we SHOULD be doing with the fundamentals (execution is something else entirely).  These are things that we can all work on outside of our limited training time by ourselves.  This year we're going to work more on advanced skills and tactics - but we'll let future us (and by future us I mean April) worry about that.  More than anything this week I'd like us to start getting used to playing at game speed again - so let's get everyone out and have several teams scrimmaging.

Also - since everyone we'll be concentrating on basic skills as everyone shakes the rust off, it's a great opportunity to expose a friend to the game.  People are likely stir crazy being stuck inside the last few months and the same person who may look at you like you're a loon for suggesting they run and sweat and get hit, should you do so in June, may be actively excited about the idea this weekend!

I'm bringing several friends in this week - please try and do the same!

How long are we going to keep bouncing back and fourth on times?

We're not sure at the moment - still dealing with long-term field issues that will (hopefully) at least begin to get cleared up this weekend.
